Why is corneal thickness particularly important for a second laser procedure?

An enhancement procedure removes additional tissue from a cornea that has already undergone surgery. We consider the residual stromal bed, total corneal thickness, corneal shape, and expected treatment depth together to reduce the risk of corneal ectasia. No single measurement guarantees safety, and we do not recommend enhancement if the eye does not meet our safety criteria.
