What is scleral fixation of an intraocular lens?

Scleral fixation is a procedure used when an IOL cannot be supported reliably in its normal position. The lens haptics are secured to the sclera, the white outer wall of the eye. The Yamane technique is one method of scleral fixation, but it is not suitable for every case. The surgical approach depends on the eye’s anatomy and the type of IOL.

Can retinal detachment happen again after surgery?
