Is it possible that my vision will not fully recover even after successful retinal surgery?

Yes. Even when surgery successfully reattaches the retina, vision may not return to its previous level. Recovery can be limited if the macula, which is responsible for central vision, has remained detached for a prolonged period. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment of retinal detachment are therefore important. If the macula is still attached, urgent treatment may help preserve central vision. The expected visual outcome depends on macular involvement, the duration of detachment, and the degree of retinal damage.

I had LASIK or LASEK years ago, but my vision has become blurry again. Can I have another procedure?

A second procedure may be possible, but the first step is to identify why your vision has changed. Treatment will differ depending on whether the cause is residual nearsightedness or astigmatism, dry ...

Why does vision sometimes get worse again after laser eye surgery?

There are several possible reasons, including progression of myopia, dry eye, residual astigmatism, corneal changes, and age-related changes in the natural lens. A vision test and detailed corneal exa...

Why is corneal thickness particularly important for a second laser procedure?

An enhancement procedure removes additional tissue from a cornea that has already undergone surgery. We consider the residual stromal bed, total corneal thickness, corneal shape, and expected treatmen...
